Happy belated birthday to Nationals manager Manny Acta, who celebrated his 38th on Thursday. What he’d do to celebrate? Heck if I know.
I’m just assuming two presents would be to get through the 2007 season with his sanity in tact and 65 wins-the latter might be a real gift but we’ll see.
Acta job will be tough. So will Lee Kuntz’s. He was hired Friday as the Nationals new head athletic trainer. Any job as a head athletic trainer in professional sports would seem to be a constant pain in the butt, arm, shoulder, or legs. Kuntz, not sure if he’s related to former ballplayer Rusty Kuntz, was Cleveland’s minor league rehabilitation coordinator for the past four years. He replaces Tim Abraham, whose future plans were not announced.
